Gordon Coutts

Gordon Coutts is being hailed as the future of tech trance in Northern Ireland. The DJ / Producer from Co. Down has been making a steady rise to the big league over the last few years and has well and truly established himself as one of the most promising talents to emerge on to the global circuit. His productions can be found on the top labels, in the boxes of many of the world’s leading DJs, appearing on the pages of magazines such as Mixmag, iDJ, DJ Mag and M8, while Gordon himself can be regularly found on line ups alongside some of the top names around, as well as headlining nights himself.

Gordon first began DJ’ing back in 1999 as a young up and coming DJ. Hard practice soon turned into sets at local clubs and radio stations around Northern Ireland. For a number of years he steadily built his profile and reputation, playing all around Northern Ireland and securing a number of residencies, as well as co-promoting a successful club night called Replay. In 2005, fresh from his debut appearance at Northern Ireland’s largest dance music festival, Planetlove he went on to appear for super brand Godskitchen, @ Air in Birmingham as part of an all Irish DJ line-up for a St. Patricks weekend special, alongside Fergie, Col Hamilton and Phil Kieran.

He was also named as Belfast club Thompsons ‘HUSTLE DJ OF THE YEAR’ in 2005, as well as being nominated as ‘BEST UP & COMING TALENT’ twice in the Northern Ireland Dance Music Awards. In 2006 Gordon was also selected as the winner of a nationwide DJ competition to play in Dublin, as well as featuring in the ‘Raw Talent’ section of iDJ magazine and playing guest mixes on various radio stations around the world.

The summer of 2007 also saw Gordon hit the White Isle of Ibiza with a string of gigs, and this success led to appearances on high-profile radio shows such as Paul Van Dyk’s VONYC Sessions and Riley & Durrant’s ‘Nubreed’ show, along with guest mixes for Vandit Sessions and other local radio stations around Northern Ireland. Gordon’s own monthly radio show, ‘The Replay Sessions’, has aired successfully for over 2 years worldwide on a number of popular online radio stations.

In 2007, Gordon moved into production, with his debut tracks ‘Visual’ and ‘Under My Wheels’ released on the Spanish Selecta Recordings in November 2007. These tracks were instantly supported by the likes of Eddie Halliwell, Ferry Corsten and Yoji Biomehanika, along with Radio 1 plays and fantastic magazine reviews. Follow up releases ‘Zulu’ on Claudia Cazacu’s Couture recordings, and Gordon’s remix of Ben Nicky’s ‘Turn On’ on Infexious further bolstered Gordon’s profile, with massive worldwide support from the likes of Sander Van Doorn and Ernesto vs Bastian, with ‘Zulu’ also gaining ‘Recommended Track’ status in its iDJ magazine review. In 2008 Gordon signed for Paul Van Dyk’s massive Vandit label. His debut track on the label ‘Bakstabb’ was his biggest track to date, with plays from the likes of Paul Van Dyk and Sander Van Doorn and support at the Miami Winter Music Conference 08. Follow up tracks on Vandit and other heavy hitter labels have achieved similar levels of success and Gordon now boasts an A- Z of the whos who support in global tech trance.

2009 saw a number of releases for Gordon on Claudia Cazacu's ever growing Couture label and he also remixed Scottish legend Mallorca Lee. Two other releases with NI techno and house producer Owen Johnston brought out a darker deeper more experimental side. Ron Van Den Beuken's 'Timeless 2009’ got the remix treatment as a collaboration with Dutch star RAM who was responsible for one of the biggest tracks of 2009, RAMSTERDAM.The guys remix of Timeless stormed the trance charts, got huge support from Tiesto and Eddie Halliwell and was released on Spinnin. Gordon continued this trend throughout 2010 and into 2011, with releases on Connective Sounds, Couture, Phase Seven, Spellbinding and Fraction Records.
